Taming the monster: agile business

Wednesday, October 17th, 2012 | Business, Virtual Assistant | 6 Comments

Frankenstein's monster mask

Virtual assistants, personal assistants, sourcing – the future of business

<–  Who’s this?

Did you guess Frankenstein?  Most people would, and most people would be incorrect.

The correct answer is: Frankenstein’s monster.  “Frankenstein” refers to Dr. Victor Frankenstein, the character Mary Shelley created in her 1818 novel The Modern Prometheus.

The good doctor has suffered an identity crisis for nearly 200 years.  His name and legacy have been usurped by the entity he created.  His livelihood and life were swallowed up by a monster that quickly got out of control.

What does this have to do with a virtual assistant?

More accurately, what does this have to do with you?  Has your business entity taken over your life?  Are you spending nights, weekends and holidays working on the business in a frantic effort to keep pace with what you’ve created?  Worse yet, would you just as soon resign – like Frankenstein did with his monster – rather than spend one more day without a life?

Why did you start your business in the first place?

One motivating factor that’s common to every business owner is the thought that we build a business to support us.  We want our company to generate enough personal income to pay the mortgage, buy the car, provide the tuition, and purchase the cruise tickets, don’t we?  You have built your business in hopes that it will support your life; NOT have a business that sucks the life out of you!

For that reason, BST Concierge is changing directions in our focus.  You will see new marketing and service models emerging in the coming weeks.  We will continue to support our personal assistance and domestic services clients in the Knoxville, TN area.  On top of that, we will expand our virtual assistance (VA) offerings to entrepreneurs, solopreneurs, small business owners and executives who want to work on a bigger scale…without creating a monster.

  1. Tim, great, short article, and speaks to a lot! What virtual assistance services do you all offer and at what price. We sure need help, and I can relate! But we continue to be on a tight budget too. See you soon!

Thanks, Marion. Take a look at our VA services and rates page under the Virtual Assistance tab. We are still developing this site and will be adding more information on packages and project pricing. We wish you much success, more cash, and a healthy & happy family in 2013. Best to you and to Art.
